Black Hat Techniques you must not do

Remember that when you do SEO on your site, this would take up a lot of your time and effort. It is a given that you need to constantly update the SEO done on your site. But be careful; there are some SEO techniques that can hurt your site’s rating.

SEO techniques are classified into two: the white hat SEO techniques and the black hat SEO techniques. The white hat SEO techniques follow all the rules on and about search engine optimization. In contrast, the black hat SEO techniques would entail methods that can be considered illegal and unethical.

I will try to give you a basic idea about some black hat techniques that should be avoided at all costs.

1. Cloaking. In cloaking, a single web page would have two versions. One is for the internet users to see and the other one is made for the search engines. The page specifically made for the search engines would include keywords that are written in the same color as the website’s background.

2. Keyword stuffing. This is the most common of black hat techniques. Here the web owners would insert their keywords anywhere in the content in the hopes that search engines would give them a higher rating.

3. Link farms. There are sites that would just give out links to whoever needs them. Most of the time, these links would be irrelevant to the site’s theme. When you have irrelevant links to your site, your ranking could suffer.

4. Doorway pages. These web pages are not seen by the internet public. Only the search engines would be aware of these pages. When visitors click on the link containing doorway pages, they would be instantly redirected to a genuine web page.

There are more black hat techniques that you should be aware of. I will write more about when I have time on my hands. In the meantime, take extra precaution when installing SEO on your site.
