Difference Between Organic Search and Paid Search

When you do a search on the internet and get the results, you (and a whole lot of others) may not be aware that you are actually getting two kinds of results. The more prominent of the results is called the organic search results which are usually found on the left hand side of the screen. On the right side would be the paid search results.

So, what is the difference between these two? Let us start with the paid search. As the name suggests, it would cost you money to do this kind of search. This is also called pay-per-click (PPC) advertisement. Every time somebody clicks on the advertisement, you would pay them. Each click could cost $5 to $8 dollars (some would pay even more). If you want your advertisement on the first page, you have to pay more. Is there an advantage to paid search? Well, there is. You would be able to see immediate results. You could get on the first page easily if you just have the money to fund your PPC advertisements.

Now, on to organic search. As opposed to the paid search, organic search is completely free. This search would refer to the use of the different search engines. To take full advantage of the organic search results, you need to fully equip your site with the proper SEO tools. As there would be more competitors in this search, you have to be sure that the search engines would give your site a good ranking. And as you know, the higher your site’s ranking, the better is the position in the search results.

It is your choice if you are going to use the paid search or the organic search. You could also do both. I suggest that if you do have the money, you could do the PPC advertisement first. This would be a good idea to let the people know about your site while you are waiting for coming benefits of SEO on your site. As soon as you are ranking on search results, you could stop the PPC advertisements.
